Windows 7 OS Installation in GPT Partition

Windows 7 / 8 installation error "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

Solution 1

This could happen not only windows 8, But also windows 7 or server 2008, 2008R2. I found a work around to this problem.Without deleting all partitions you can achieve this.

(1) Download Gpart iso from GParted -- Download (less than 150 mb)

(2) burn the Iso file to a CD and boot from the cd

(3) you can create a ntfs partition using the Gparted and reboot and retry to install windows.. 

Magically this will work.

Solution 2 : 

Boot mini windows XP from hiren CD. Go to command prompt and enter the following commands. (Enter after each command)

1. Diskpart 
2. List disk
3. Select disk 0
4. Clean
